A Letter from Aunty Lesley

A Play Idea, A Vision, & Many Cultures

Kia ora e te whānau, 你好,talofa lava, سلام, namaste, ola — hello friends!

I started Aunty Lesley & Friends with one simple hope: to create welcoming, inclusive, and culturally rich spaces, services, and products where every child and every parent can say, “This is for me.”

From our first little playgroup in a borrowed room to today’s school holiday programmes, pop-up events, workshops, and Culture-in-a-Box craft kits, that hope has never changed. We build warm, multicultural spaces where children can play, create, and grow—and where parents find connection, confidence, and practical support.

My journey began as a community volunteer, listening to families in many languages, cultures, and life stages. I’ve seen shy children blossom through cultural play, mothers regain their confidence at the craft table, and schools, libraries, and public venues come alive when programmes are easy to run and simple to report.

These everyday moments—your smiles, your stories, your children’s small victories—are the true heart of this brand.

What Parents Say

Beautifully planned, culturally respectful, and parent-friendly. Aunty Lesley’s team made it easy for us to join in and easy for our child to shine. The sessions are warm, organised, and full of heart. Our child came home glowing—singing new songs, showing crafts, and brimming with confidence. The team listened to us, respected every culture, and delivered beyond our expectations. Highly professional, creative, and so easy to work with. We recommend them to every family we know!
